Why is Farmacy Different & How does it work?
As a registered farmacy we dispense medicines on presentation of a prescription from a Veterinary Surgeon. Our competitive pricing structure often means our medicines are cheaper than through the local veterinary practice.
Since 1st November 2005, veterinary surgeons have been required to offer prescriptions to clients free of charge, allowing clients to source medicines from cheaper sources. Traditionally vets have charged varying "mark ups" on medicines, which has supplemented lower professional fees.
Farmacy.co.uk realised that if clients sourced medicines through their farmacy, that the prescribing practice would lose revenue that may impact on their provision of service. To help offset these losses, and yet still ensure the best price to you, farmacy offers a rebate to the prescribing vet. In certain circumstances, paying this rebate to the prescribing vet may not be appropriate and added as a further discount.
Through developing a relationship with the prescribing vets, we aim to ensure that the latest information on medicines and vaccines is available to you. In addition, should your vet request, we can offer farm consultancies to help you plan for the health of your stock, including your medicine requirements.
