Product Description

A broad-spectrum Oxytetracycline injection useful in treating a wide range of infections in horses, cattle, sheep or pigs including those caused by Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Mannheimia haemolytica, Haemophilus parahaemolyticus and Bordetella bronchiseptica, and Chlamydophila abortus (formerly Chlamydia psittaci), the causative organism of enzootic abortion in sheep.

Dosage & Administration

Can be administered at either a low dose rate for a 24 hour duration of activity or at a high dose rate for prolonged duration of activity.

24 hour dosage regime:

The recommended dosage rate is 3-10 mg/kg bodyweight (depending on age and species - see table) by intramuscular or intravenous injection. The treatment may be repeated at 24 hour intervals up to 4 times (5 treatments in all).

Intravenous injections must be given slowly over a period of at least one minute.

Prolonged action dosage regime:

10 or 20 mg/kg bodyweight depending on age and species (see table) by intramuscular injection only, repeated once after 48-60 hours if required.

This dosage regime is not advised for use in horses.

Prophylactic treatment of enzootic abortion in sheep: 20 mg/kg administered about day 95-100 of gestation. A further treatment may be given 2-3 weeks later.

Before administration, clean the area of the injection site and swab with spirit. Repeat doses should be administered at different sites, and the sites massaged well after injection.

Maximum recommended dose at any one site: 20 ml for cattle, 10 ml for sheep and pigs.

  • Treated horses may never be slaughtered for human consumption

  1. To keep our prices as low as possible, we do not hold stock of most products. We order stock from our wholesaler at 4.30 each day, so any orders received after this time will not be ordered until the following day. 
  2. Orders placed on a Thursday or Friday that have refrigerated items included will not be dispatched until the following Monday to ensure that the items are delivered to you under controlled conditions. This means that you should receive these items on a Tuesday by 12pm.
  3. We do not offer a Saturday or Sunday delivery service.
  4. Standard and Priority costs apply to the UK mainland only.
  5. Delivery to Scottish Highlands and Islands and Isle of Wight may incur an excess to cover additional carriage costs - this is dependent on your postcode. Full details can be found by clicking the link below.
  6. Customers who arrange to collect from Warnham should not arrive before 12pm.
  7. We are no longer able to ship to Northern Ireland due to extra administrative costs since January 2021. Any orders placed online will be cancelled and refunded.

In the unlikely event that you receive faulty or damaged goods please call 01306 628215 within 72 hours of receipt of your goods. Please have your order reference to hand. You will be asked to provide evidence of the damaged goods if damaged in transit.
